Recent News

It is Baseball season here in Washington, D.C! This past month, we put politics aside for a worthy cause. The Republicans and Democrats came together to play in the Congressional Baseball Game for Charity! Together, we raised over 2 million dollars for local charities here in Washington, D.C. We may have put politics aside, but that does not mean we don't want to win, and we did! The Republicans came out on top with a 31-11 win over the Democrats. I am proud of our team, and playing alongside my colleagues is always an honor. I look forward to next year and another victory!

D.C. Update

This month we have begun working through all of our Appropriations Bills as well as some other great legislation.

Here is some of the legislation we passed this month!

• H.R. 8580 - FY25 MilConVA Appropriations Bill
• H.R. 6543 – No Hidden FEES Act of 2023
• H.R. 8282 - Illegitimate Court Counteraction Act.

Recent Legislation that I have Cosponsored!

• H.Con.Res. 113, Recognizing the life, achievements, and public service of former President George H.W. Bush on the occasion of his 100th birthday.
• H.R. 8334 - Grant Integrity and Border Security Act, to require any applicant for a Federal grant to submit a certification that such applicant in not in violation of section 274(a) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, and for other purposes.
• H.R. 8693, To prohibit certain businesses and persons from purchasing real estate adjacent to covered Federal lands in the United States, and for other purposes.

District Update

This week, I had the great privilege of meeting with Sarah Zhang from Mansfield! She is our 2024 Congressional Art Competition winner. Her painting "Dust Storm" is going to be proudly displayed here in the nation's Capitol. It was great getting to meet Sarah and her mother, Lihua, whose family just celebrated their two-year anniversary of moving to the United States. Sarah shared about her experience of moving to the U.S. and what she hopes to accomplish in her senior year. As she looks toward the future and college, she hopes to study art! Stories like Sarah's truly represent the American dream.  

If you have not had the opportunity to watch my latest Walk with Jake, I showed some of the other outstanding pieces of art that were submitted this year! Having such young talent in our district always fills me with joy and hope for our future and I look forward to seeing what great art will come next year!
