2023 Population Estimates by Demographic Characteristics
Between 2022 and 2023, the Hispanic population accounted for just under 71% of the overall growth of the United States population, driven primarily by Hispanic births. Hispanics of any race grew to just over 65 million, an increase of 1.16 million (1.8%) from the prior year. This growth significantly contributed to the nation's total population gain of 1.64 million in 2023.

The population age 65 and over increased in all but one of the nation’s 387 metro areas, while the population of children declined in many metro areas from April 1, 2020 to July 1, 2023, according to new Vintage 2023 Population Estimates.
