U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) delivered a speech on the Senate floor, urging the Biden Administration to employ all available sanctions and diplomatic measures to secure the release of Christians affiliated with Mountain Gateway, who have been imprisoned and persecuted in Nicaragua for their religious beliefs.
In her remarks, Senator Britt emphasized her ongoing advocacy for these Christian leaders. She highlighted her recent resolution, co-sponsored by Senators Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.), Rick Scott (R-Fla.), Ted Cruz (R-Tex.), and Kevin Cramer (R-N.Dak.), which condemns the actions of the Nicaraguan government.
Earlier this year, Senator Britt, along with Senators Tuberville, Scott, and Cruz, sent a letter to President Biden, calling for sanctions against Nicaragua. Additionally, in February, she joined a bipartisan, bicameral letter led by Congressman Robert Aderholt (R-AL-04) to the Nicaraguan Ambassador to the United States, expressing deep concern over the arrests of the Mountain Gateway faith leaders.
