I penned an op-ed this week detailing a disturbing trend. It was published yesterday in the New York Post.

Freedom is coming under increasing attack from far too many state and local Democrat officials, who are abusing the power of "stay-at-home" orders to act on their authoritarian tendencies.

I'm extremely concerned with these developments... and I'm calling them out.

As we protect ourselves against COVID-19, we should not have to protect ourselves against the creep of tyranny as well!

Government officials, at every level, have taken necessary steps to defeat COVID-19. We all understand the need for social distancing, and the American people have embraced these common-sense practices and made immeasurable sacrifices for the public good.

But to be constitutional, "stay-at-home" and similar orders must restrain only those activities that pose a significant risk.

People should NOT be getting arrested for taking their kids to an empty public park, or ticketed for driving alone in their vehicles or attending a drive-thru church service.

Perhaps the most egregious example? NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio has threatened to PERMANENTLY shut down churches, synagogues, mosques, and temples if they continue to meet for services.

This is INSANITY!

We've also now seen politically-motivated arrests. In Charlotte, NC, pro-life pregnancy counselors were taken into custody recently, despite the fact that they were safely practicing social distancing. Meanwhile, abortion clinic workers were deemed "essential."

Today, I'd like to know what you think.
