NEW NATURAL DISASTER RESOURCE CENTER ON MY WEBSITE
From tornadoes and derechos to flooding and high winds, Iowans are very familiar with severe weather. Over the last few months, our communities have been impacted by tornadoes and catastrophic flooding that have devastated homes, businesses, schools, hospitals, and farms.
That’s why I launched a Natural Disaster Resource Center on my website, which will serve as a one-stop shop for victims of severe storms to find important contact information, apply for federal relief, and report damage and losses. My office remains ready and able to serve our constituents and help with disaster recovery questions and concerns. Just like we’ve done before, we will recover and rebuild together.

MY DAY WITH GOVERNOR REYNOLDS SURVEYING FLOOD DAMAGE IN NORTHWEST IOWA
On Monday, I was with Governor Reynolds and Lieutenant Governor Gregg in Hawarden, Rock Valley, Rock Rapids, Spencer, and Cherokee surveying flood damage and meeting with emergency management, law enforcement, local officials, and residents.
It was inspiring to see Iowans come together to help each other during these challenging times.
Our thoughts and prayers remain with all those impacted, and I will continue to work with Governor Reynolds to deliver relief to our communities.

WELCOMING 4-HERS FROM FREMONT COUNTY TO CONGRESS
On Wednesday, I welcomed 4-Hers from Fremont County to Congress.
We talked about my work to overturn Prop 12, grow our export markets, and pass a strong Farm Bill for Iowa.
I even had the chance to bring them down to the Ways and Means Committee room for a hearing on child welfare.

MY AMENDMENT TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY APPROPRIATIONS ACT PASSED THE HOUSE!
President Biden has overseen the worst border crisis in our nation’s history. Since the beginning of his administration, nearly 8 million illegal immigrants have crossed our southern border, with another 2 million evading capture by Border Patrol. Even known terrorists and poisonous drugs are sneaking through the cracks of our open border.
My amendment directs the Department of Homeland Security to use money seized from the drug cartels to build the border wall and protect our communities. The cartels don’t deserve to keep a single penny of the money they’ve made smuggling deadly drugs into our communities. They should be in jail serving time for their crimes.

HELPING OUR SMALL BUSINESSES OFFER PAID FAMILY AND MEDICAL LEAVE TO THEIR EMPLOYEES
This week, I introduced legislation to help our small businesses offer paid family and medical leave to their employees.
PFML ensures that workers can take needed paid time off to spend with family or recover from an illness without missing a paycheck.

CALLING FOR RELIEF FOR OUR POULTRY AND EGG PRODUCERS
Nearly 25% of the 100 million birds impacted by bird flu have been in Iowa.
That’s why I sent a letter to Secretary Vilsack with the entire Iowa delegation requesting relief for egg and poultry producers in Iowa.
I continue to call for increased protections for our producers.

MY WEEKLY COLUMN: RECOVERING AND REBUILDING TOGETHER
Our communities have faced – and continue to experience – catastrophic flooding that has devastated homes, farms, businesses, schools, and hospitals. Families have lost cherished possessions, businesses face costly cleanup, and farmers have lost crops.
However, despite this challenging time for our district, Iowans are resilient. Neighbors are stepping up to help neighbors, farmers are deploying their payloaders to haul away debris, and communities are coming together to recover and rebuild. It’s inspiring to see how Iowans unite in times of crisis.
