Dear Neighbors,?
Thank you to everyone that came out for our District 51 Town Hall. We had a great discussion on our accomplishments at the legislature this year, and the work that remains. It?s an incredible honor to represent such an engaged district, and we?ve got an amazing team with Sen. Wiklund and Rep. Coulter!

*Supporting Home Builders*
We need to build more homes, but we should never do so while exploiting the workers building them. That was my message this week alongside LIUNA Minnesota workers to raise awareness about our new laws to guard against wage theft and unlawful labor practices on affordable housing projects.
LIUNA
Our nation-leading law ensures that any developer receiving low-income tax credits must comply with fair labor practices and will be accountable if they hire subcontractors who exploit workers. Thank you to the workers who shared their stories. There is power in workers coming together to fight for what's right!
LIUNA
From wage theft to racial discrimination, the Minnesota Reformer covered our event and the injustices workers are facing. You can read that story here [ [link removed] ].?

*Minneapolis? 2040 Comp Plan*
This week I also joined Rep. Sydney Jordan, Mayor Jacob Frey, and Councilmember Aurin Chowdhury to celebrate passage of our legislation that clarifies the comp plan process, functionally ending the Minneapolis 2040 lawsuit which has stalled hundreds of units of much-needed housing.
2040 [ [link removed] ]
Ending this misguided lawsuit allows Minneapolis and other cities to move forward with their vision for a future that is both pro-housing and pro-environment. In doing so we will create more affordable homes that are desperately needed. It is one part of the broader reforms we need to create a future where all Minnesotans have a better shot at finding a home they love and can afford.
