With summer in full swing, many people from our community will be traveling domestically and internationally in the coming months. To help everyone make the most of it, on Monday at 2pm CT, I will be hosting a virtual town hall with a panel of experts to discuss the best travel preparation tips and tricks and provide participants with the opportunity to ask questions of travel experts. You can RSVP for the town hall here, and I hope to see you there.

Congressman Krishnamoorthi commemorates $975,000 in federal funding he secured for Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley with the Executive Director Barbara Beckman and Carpentersville Village President John Skillman.

Last Friday, I presented Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley with $975,000 in federal funding I secured for the organization’s efforts to build 13 new single-family homes. The housing, which will feature energy-efficient appliances such as solar panels and LED lighting, will be available for low-income families throughout our community. Owning a home is still out of reach for far too many Americans, and the incredible work being done by organizations like Habitat for Humanity is opening doors for more of our neighbors to achieve their dream of owning a home.

Congressman Krishnamoorthi presents officials from Rolling Meadows with a check for $810,000 in federal funding he secured to improve storm sewer systems near Kimball Hill Elementary School.
Also last Friday, I visited Kimball Hill Elementary School in Rolling Meadows to present city officials with $810,000 in federal funding I secured to upgrade the storm sewer system at the intersection of School Drive and Meadow Drive. Parents should not be worried about flooding around their children’s school, which could hamper their ability to pick up or drop off their students, or impede emergency personnel from responding during a crisis. The federal funding will increase pedestrian and vehicle safety around the building, slow road deterioration caused by flooding, and provide peace of mind to parents and residents who live near Kimball Hill.

Congressman Krishnamoorthi with members of Mechanics’ Local 701 after presenting them with $850,000 in federal funding for its new industry training center.
On Sunday, I was happy to join with members of the Mechanics’ Local 701 Union to deliver $850,000 for their new industry training center. The Local 701 Training Buildout Project will provide those seeking to expand their trading skills with the opportunities and equipment to grow, thereby preparing the next generation of mechanics and other skills-based jobs in our communities. I have long been a believer that a ticket to the middle class must be available to as many Americans as possible, and securing this funding for Local 701’s training center will provide a roadmap to higher-paying jobs for more skilled workers throughout northern Illinois.
