** NYYRC Response to COVID-19

Dear Members and Friends of the New York City Young Republican Club,

With the spread of COVID-19 continuing in New York City and across the world, the New York City Young Republican Club (NYYRC) recognizes how difficult a time this is for so many individuals. During this uncertain time, there are a plethora of organizations that are seeking support to assist with relief efforts. If you are interested in learning more about what you can do to help, NYYRC leadership has compiled the below list of opportunities to donate, volunteer, and support fellow New Yorkers.

New York Cares is working with city agencies, nonprofits, and schools to assist those most impacted by COVID-19. Visit their website ([link removed][UNIQID]) for more information or click here ([link removed][UNIQID]) to sign up to receive further information about upcoming volunteer projects.

Volunteer New York has set up a “Virtual Volunteer Center” listing volunteer opportunities to aid communities, agencies, and those most vulnerable who have been impacted by COVID-19 (including opportunities that can be done from home). The New York Blood Center strongly urges individuals who feel healthy and well to make an appointment at a donor center or blood drive to give blood, platelets and plasma. More information can be found here.

The New York Community Trust has established a COVID-19 Response & Impact Fund created to aid nonprofit service providers struggling with the health and economic effects of COVID-19. It will give grants and loans to NYC-based nonprofits that are trying to meet the new urgent needs that are hitting the city. Donations will help nonprofits with a variety of needs, including protective equipment, cleaning supplies, technological assistance, and support for financial loans. The City of New York is seeking licensed healthcare workers to support healthcare facility needs during this challenging time. Those interested must complete a two-step process to have their license(s) verified and be matched with available staffing requests. Click here ([link removed][UNIQID]) for more information. Additionally, if you are employed or volunteering to provide care and/or services in a healthcare, community-based or home-based setting within New York City where you are at risk of being exposed to contracting COVID-19 and may not be able to temporarily live at home in order to minimize exposure, you may be eligible to receive free housing at a local hotel. The City of New York is additionally taking steps to make sure every New Yorker has access to the food they need. Visit their website ([link removed][UNIQID]) to get more information on ways to donate food, cash, or supplies to those in need.

The New York Young Republican Club is proud to endorse Aliscia Andrews for Congress in Virginia’s 10th Congressional District. As the daughter of an Air Force veteran, Aliscia was introduced at an early age to the selfless sacrifice our veterans make for American citizens. Compelled by her upbringing and further life events, Aliscia became a Marine, where she deployed with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit in 2010 and went on to serve in Haiti, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Her dedication and perseverance extended into family life as well – Aliscia gave birth to her and her husband’s first child in early 2011, just two days after working shifts in analytical support of our operation against Osama bin Laden.

** Board Position Available: Finance Committee Chair

The New York Young Republican Club is on the look for a new Finance Committee Chairperson.

The chairperson of this committee serves as a voting member of the Club’s Board of Governors. We are looking for someone with a passion for both conservative politics and a background in either finance, banking, accounting, or other related fields.

Applicants must be a current member of the Club in good standing and be willing to commit to at-least one board meeting and one Club event per month.
