John,
We know today everyone's talking about the debate last night, but don't let this massive, horrific news from SCOTUS pass you by.
Just a day after the conservative supermajority on the Supreme Court ruled against the EPA’s “Good Neighbor Rule,” today they broke 40 years of precedent by overturning the “Chevron Doctrine” - which said simply: if a law is ambiguous, courts should defer to agency experts to interpret the law.
Here’s what you need to know: this is a blatant power grab. The Supreme Court is now putting THEMSELVES as the sole arbiter of these critical decisions, undermining our ability to do any kind of environmental or climate regulation without their approval.
This is another attempt to block our climate progress by an extremely partisan Supreme Court. Please donate today so we can fight back by electing good environmental champions to Congress and pass legislation they can’t overturn! [[link removed]]
FIGHT BACK AGAINST THE SUPREME COURT » [[link removed] ]As Justice Kagan wrote in her dissent, ‘In one fell swoop, the majority today gives itself exclusive power over every open issue—no matter how expertise-driven or policy-laden—involving the meaning of regulatory law.’
The conservative majority is so full of themselves that they think they know better than the agency experts who dedicate their lives to their particular field of study. We’re talking biologists, economists, geologists, chemists, engineers, and on and on and on.
SEEC Members understand the gravity of this decision and we’re mobilizing our resources for a robust response. We have to take back the House so we can pass good environmental legislation in 2025 and beyond.
Can you please donate now to help us fight back against this disastrous decision and defend our planet against an ultra-conservative Supreme Court that’s clearly on the side of fossil fuel special interests over our environment? [[link removed]]

The stakes have never been higher. The decisions made today will shape our planet for decades to come, affecting our environment, our health, and our children’s future.
