Hello Friend,
As we continue to go about our
daily lives under Shelter-In-Place, it is important that we come
together as a community to care and support one another. Call your
neighbors, check in on your friends, support your local businesses,
and stay inside. We each have to do our part to flatten the
curve.
I know that many of you are
concerned about how to access important resources in your
neighborhood. My office has been working very hard to make sure
essential services like food distribution sites, deliveries for
seniors, and legal support are available for our community during this
time of need. We remain fully committed to serving our community and
are here to help with any need that may arise.
Here are some resources that are
currently available in our district:
FREE FOOD DISTRIBUTION
SITES
Over the past few weeks thousands
of families have been served in our District at the James Denman and
June Jordan food distribution sites. It is apparent that many families
are suffering economically as the demand for food is so large in our
community.
My team and I have been working
tirelessly to ensure that more free food distribution sites open
throughout the district for everyone in need. We added a food distribution site at
Longfellow Elementary School on Mondays and Wednesdays from 11am-12pm
for families in need. I wanted to be sure you had updated information
on the hours of operations for food distribution sites open in your
neighborhood.
San Francisco has partnered
with
Open Door Legal (ODL), a San Francisco non-profit, to provide uninterrupted
universal access to legal help during the COVID-19 pandemic. ODL is
committed to fighting eviction and tenant harassment, especially for
the most vulnerable amongst us. They can be reached at (415) 735-4124
or via email at [email protected]. If you need legal help, or
know someone who is in need of legal help, please do not hesitate to
let me know.
We know times are hard for many
seniors sheltering-in-place. In an effort to fight against isolation
and loneliness during this time, Community Connectors has daily
activities to support the wellbeing and mental health through virtual
classes, wellness check-ins and more. Please

In addition, San Francisco is
partnering with the Shanti
Project
and Mon
Ami to provide
grocery and delivery services for our seniors. Please visit their
websites by clicking on the organization’s names to learn more
information about how you can get involved to assist our senior
community.
Also, if you are a senior in need
of assistance, please dial 311.
SUPPORT FOR
FAMILIES
I know it has been a challenge for
many families who are dealing with loss of employment, or are working
from home while caring for their children. With two elementary school
aged children at home, I can definitely relate to the
struggle.
Here are some learning resources
and support for families with school aged children:
If you or your family or friends
need assistance with anything during these trying times, do not
hesitate to reach out to me personally, I can be reached at (415)
404-9968. I will do whatever I can to make sure you are safe and
supported.
We will get through this
TOGETHER!
Sincerely,
Ahsha
