From Bristol Bay to the Yukon-Kuskokwim region, these lands provide subsistence resources for over 100 Alaska Native communities. They nourish incredible fish and wildlife biodiversity, and serve as massive carbon sinks. In 2021, a “midnight decision” by the Trump Administration threatened to repurpose these long-protected lands for extractive industrial development. Now, we’re on the precipice of turning that decision around.
The Biden Administration needs to hear that Alaskans and conservation allies everywhere support this final decision and want these public lands kept intact—so they can continue to support all five species of Pacific salmon, three of North America’s largest caribou herds, abundant moose populations, and a vast number of migratory bird species. |
