John, Every American should be able to participate in our elections without fear of retaliation, and Free Speech For People is fighting each and every day to keep our democracy free and fair for all. But we can’t do that without you. Will you donate $10 or more today to help us protect citizens’ ability to exercise their right to vote freely? Thanks to your support, we’ve racked up some major voting rights victories. In October 2020, we filed a federal lawsuit against a private mercenary company planning an armed voter intimidation scheme in Minnesota. We won a ruling prohibiting the defendants from pursuing their illegal voter intimidation plans during the 2020 presidential election, which had targeted voters of color in the state. We also secured a landmark settlement against the defendants. That same month, we won a major victory for Arizona voters and for our democracy by extending the voter registration deadline in Arizona during the pandemic. This ruling allowed over 35,000 new voters to be registered in Arizona and to be eligible to vote in the November 2020 election. But our work is far from over. As we speak, we’re preparing to go to court in Colorado and New Hampshire: COLORADO: In 2022, Free Speech For People filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court of Colorado against the United States Election Integrity Plan (USEIP), an extremist organization with ties to QAnon and the January 6th Capitol Insurrection, seeking to stop USEIP’s illegal voter intimidation campaign in Colorado. USEIP has conducted a door-to-door campaign of intimidation at voters’ homes, in which its agents (sometimes armed) question voters about their method of voting, interrogate them about so-called fraudulent ballots, levy baseless accusations of fraud against voters, and take photographs of voters’ homes to store in a database. The court has rejected repeated attempts by USEIP’s founders to block the lawsuit. This case is headed to trial on July 15. NEW HAMPSHIRE: Free Speech For People filed a lawsuit on behalf of The League of Women Voters of the United States (LWV-US), the League of Women Voters of New Hampshire (LWV-NH), and several individual New Hampshire voters in the U.S. District Court of New Hampshire against Steve Kramer, Lingo Telecom, Voice Broadcasting Corporation, and Life Corporation, who together subjected New Hampshire residents to robocalls that deepfaked President Biden’s voice to prevent them from voting in the New Hampshire presidential primary in January. We seek to stop the defendants from using robocalls and AI technology to intimidate, threaten, coerce, or deceive voters. Our case is scheduled for a hearing on July 31 on our motion for a preliminary injunction. And we won’t stop there. We can’t predict what will happen during the 2024 election, but our legal team is on call and ready to respond to ensure that every American can vote freely and without fear.
