Hey John,

I’m Janelle Perez (she/her), you might remember me from my run for the Florida Senate as a Ruth’s List Florida candidate. Unfortunately, I did not get the results I wanted during the 2022 elections. The Florida Republicans poured nearly $10 million into defeating me. Unwittingly, they sparked a movement.

It's not just about me anymore. As a former Ruth's List candidate, I am proud to continue working with this organization by serving on its Board of Directors. Earlier this year, I also joined LPAC as their new Executive Director, a national organization dedicated to electing LBTQ+ women and nonbinary folks to all levels of government. I’m fighting to empower hundreds more like me to be elected, and my mission is critical right here in my home state of Florida.

The Florida GOP’s efforts have only fueled my determination. As a lesbian, mother, business owner and cancer survivor, my journey is personal. I’m committed to ensuring every LBTQ+ woman can be unapologetically herself and win elections. LPAC and Ruth’s List are united in this mission because we know what’s at stake when our voices aren’t heard.

Take action this Pride Month and contribute to a LBTQ+ candidate for office. Ruth's List and LPAC are proud to highlight incredible LBTQ+ women like:

Ashley Brundage, running for the Florida House District 65

Commissioner Sarah Malega, re-elected to Lake Worth Beach City Commission

Lisa McLean, running for Public Defender of the 13th Judicial Circuit (Hillsborough)

Representative Michele Rayner, running for re-election in Florida House District 62

Our voices shape the future. And when LGBTQ+ individuals are elected, they advocate for policies that reflect our community’s needs.

Attacks on us are part of a broader discrimination pattern, making our representation urgent. This Pride Month and beyond, we need you to show up.

Best,

Janelle Perez
