This has been a successful month for California YIMBY's 2024 legislative agenda! Our priority bills have made it through their house of origin and are on their way to clearing their policy committees in the second chamber. This is possible because we have housing champions in the Assembly and the Senate who are leading the way forward.

So far, the following bills are still alive. Sponsored by California YIMBY:

SB 937 (Wiener) would shift the timing of when cities charge impact fees to help builders lower construction costs.
SB 1211 (Skinner) encourages more ADUs on multifamily properties.
SB 1123 (Caballero) makes it legal to build up to 10 homes on vacant single-family zoned lots.
AB 1820 (Schiavo) addresses the fees charged for new homes.
AB 2580 (Wicks) monitors how cities use historic preservation rules.

High priority bills for California YIMBY:

AB 2144 (Grayson) helps enforce existing laws regarding transparency in impact fees.
AB 1210 (Skinner) eliminates uncertainty around utility connection fees.

Our efforts will determine how many pro-housing bills can still pass this year. Come September, we want a stack of pro-housing legislation headed to the Governor's desk for his signature.
