Gun homicides declined by more than 15% in the United States during the first three months of 2024 — that’s big.
This is what progress looks like, John. When we invest in gun safety legislation and community-based violence intervention programs we see real results.
Can you help us continue to fight for progress by chipping in anything you can today to support our grassroots organizing across the country? We have a $400,000 end-of-quarter goal and just one more day to reach our goal. [[link removed]]
Since we first marched in 2018, March For Our Lives has continuously expanded what it means to fight for gun safety legislation.
After our second march in D.C., Congress finally took action and passed the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act (BSCA) — the first federal legislation on gun safety in almost 30 years!
It contains important measures including:
A $250 million investment in Community Violence Intervention programs that prevent violence from occurring before a trigger is pulled
Major investments to increase access to mental health and suicide prevention programs, including school-based and community-based programs
Addressing the “Boyfriend Loophole” and preventing many perpetrators of domestic violence from obtaining firearms
Requiring more firearms sellers to register as Federally Licensed Firearm Dealers, which mandates that they must keep appropriate records and conduct background checks under federal law
It’s no coincidence that when we make strides in gun safety legislation by implementing policies like the ones included in the BSCA, we see violent crime rates decrease.

We’re proud to see the impacts of our work improving communities and saving lives. This is a clear reminder of what we can achieve together. And that’s worth celebrating. 🎉
But this is only the floor, not the ceiling. There’s so much left to do to completely eradicate gun violence in this country.
Donate before tomorrow at midnight to help us organize to end this deadly cycle of gun violence. It’s critical that we continue putting pressure on our leaders so we can achieve greater investments in gun safety legislation like BSCA. [[link removed]]
