With two days until the first FEC deadline of the general election, I am asking you to consider making a $3 donation to my re-election.

The forces we’re up against have far deeper pockets than our campaign. The gun lobby, corporate interests, and Republican super PACs can spend limitless sums against Democrats. They use their war chest to buy elections and influence and Washington to maintain a broken status quo.

So I need the resources to be able to go toe to toe with them — not just to win this race but to grow our movement as an effective progressive counterweight to these special interests.

Now we don’t have to match them dollar for dollar, not by any means. What we need to do is send a clear message that we have the resources — and more importantly the people power to beat them. No matter what they throw at me.

And that’s why this moment — the first FEC deadline of the general election — is so important. If lots and lots of people pitch in what they can, it will be a clear demonstration of the support for my re-election and our movement.
