About Last Night’s Debate
Dear John — It’s a beautiful day in Morris County, and I hope you have power restored in your home and community after Wednesday’s powerful storm.
Let’s address last night’s debate. Clearly President Joe Biden did not perform as we Democrats hoped and that’s concerning. His opponent, on the other hand, performed exactly as we expected, spewing dozens of lies, continuing the false narrative about election fraud and downplaying the horrible violence of the Jan. 6th insurrection.
Putting aside performance, the contrast is stark between President Biden, who shares our values, and a convicted felon.
President Biden believes in women’s reproductive rights, supporting the LGBTQ+ community, especially our youth; adopting stronger gun safety measures; protecting the environment; the right to fair wages and to form unions; and that diversity and immigration make our nation stronger.
In the next four months, let’s continue to work hard to elect Democrats who hold those values in their hearts. We have incredible candidates who have stepped up to run in our towns, for county office and at the federal level, including Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill and Sue Altman.
As we look forward to July 4th parades and celebrations next week, let’s keep our focus on where we can most make a difference and take action right here in Morris County to support our Democratic candidates.
