This election comes down to one simple fact:

We simply cannot afford to let Donald Trump and a Republican Congress
take our country backwards.

I know I don't have to remind you, Samuel, but too many folks seem to be
forgetting just exactly how bad things were eight years ago. Barack
and I were sworn in during the worst economic downturn since the
Great Depression. The unemployment rate was nearing double digits,
and too many hardworking folks struggled to put food on the table.
Home ownership was out of reach for too many, and economic growth
was at an all-time low. Under the policies proposed by a Republican-led
Congress and signed into law by a Republican president, we nearly hit
rock bottom.

But because of the grit and determination of the American people --
and because of tough, unpopular decisions the President and I
made with Democrats in Congress -- our economy has gone from
crisis to recovery to the cusp of real resurgence.

And we've done it by staying true to what truly makes America
great. I like to say to folks: don't tell me what you value --
show me your budget, and I'll tell you what you value.
Well, Trump and the GOP don't have a budget, but they do
have a plan -- more tax cuts for the people who need them
the least, and more cuts to programs that middle-class
Americans rely on -- education, job training, and health
care. Samuel, these are the same ideas that got us into the
mess in the first place, but Republicans are willing to risk
it all again if they win back Congress and the White House
this year.

So we have to do everything we can to make sure we put Hillary in
the White House and help Democrats take back control of Congress.

Will you step up and pitch in $3 now so we can keep moving forward,
and so we don't have to relive some of our worst economic days again?
