Unlike many undocumented families, you may be getting a stimulus check. Please consider donating part or all of it to No More Deaths (NMD) bond fund.
The a4a Immigration Team is deeply concerned about our undocumented brothers and sisters in detention at this dangerous time. Bond, or the cost of getting undocumented migrants out of prison while they await asylum or deportation cancelation hearings costs $10,000 or more for a single bond. Families can ill afford it. Millions of undocumented folks – hard-working, tax-paying heads of households – will NOT receive a stimulus check simply because they use an Individualized Tax ID Number rather than a Social Security Number.
People in detention are in great danger. Held where social distancing is impossible, detainees share bathrooms, showers, and cells. COVID 19 is breaking out and they have no protection – no masks, no soap, nothing.
Keep Tucson Together is working hard to get their undocumented clients out of detention now, using the NMD bond fund.
Your donation will save lives. When the vast majority of people out on bond make their court appearances, the bond is repaid to NMD. One donation serves many.
