Hi friends.
OK – let’s talk about why your inbox is filled with political fundraising emails right now, because there is a real reason (and it’s actually very important).
June 30th marks the end of the second quarter of the year, and is also the date of a major Federal Election Commission deadline for candidates across the country. Basically, any money that candidates raise across the entirety of Q2 – from 12:01 AM on April 1st through 11:59 PM on June 30th – has to be filed with the FEC, and then those reports are made public for anyone to see.
This matters for so many reasons, but one of the most important factors is that these public FEC reports demonstrate the state of the race to anyone who cares to look – reporters, campaign teams, activists, candidates themselves.
When our report comes out, you better believe my opponent and his team will be scrutinizing it and making their own strategic decisions based on what they see there.
And it’s pretty straightforward: A weak report signifies that the campaign may be weak as well, and can lead to major attacks from the other side once they smell blood in the water.
We already know that my opponent can raise serious money around his MAGA politics and anti-abortion mission. In one recent filing, he reported more than half a million dollars raised – so we can’t afford to get complacent here.
That’s why I’m coming to you today. I work hard to raise funds for my campaign across a wide variety of sources, from events to phone calls to pitching in my own personal resources – but nothing can replace having grassroots support.
Showing that there’s enthusiasm on the ground for my re-election campaign is really important to securing a strong Democratic victory in November. Will you help out by pitching in $10, $20, or whatever amount is meaningful to you before our June 30th FEC deadline?
