Donald Trump separated immigrant and refugee families. He put their children in cages. He called Nazis “very fine people” in the wake of a domestic terror attack in Charlottesville. And now his xenophobic rhetoric is resulting in violence against Asian American communities.
The FBI reports that Asian Americans are experiencing increased hate crimes, including an attack where two children -- a two-year-old and a six-year-old -- were stabbed outside of a grocery store for “spreading the disease.” That’s what happens when the president refuses to stop calling COVID-19 “the Chinese Virus.”
Trump unleashes cruelty against the most vulnerable communities almost daily. But these unprecedented acts of violence, according to Rep. Judy Chu, are “very, very alarming and they're not helped by President Trump who’s been calling this the ‘Chinese virus’. Every time he says that, it just fans the flames of xenophobia.”
We’re going to stop him. And protect the ones he’s put at risk.
