John,
On October 23, 2023 of last year, Donald Trump reposted a meme on his Truth Social account accusing Democrats of stoking Black Lives Matter protests and using the COVID-19 pandemic to steal the 2020 election.
The post said, “Look at the Democrat R****ds Kneel to King Fentanyl George Floyd. It was all a scam folks. George Floyd. The ScamDEMic. All of it. The Democrats allowed Senior Citizens to die in nursing homes, and allowed BLM to destroy our cities just so they could cheat in the 2020 Election and Remove President Trump.”
This post, while especially shocking, isn’t the only one of its kind.
In fact, CREW reviewed more than 13,000 of Trump’s Truth Social records from 2023 and 2024 and found that he has consistently spread lies about the 2020 and 2024 presidential elections.
Over the 456-day period CREW reviewed, Trump posted 526 times about the “rigged” 2020 election.
John, Trump refuses to accept the results and to this day continues to push the Big Lie that he won the 2020 election – and by pushing these lies, he seems to be laying the groundwork for disputing the 2024 election results.
At CREW, we’re continuing to fight Trump’s lies with the truth. We have to work harder than ever to set the record straight that the 2020 election was free and fair and to protect our democracy from election threats this year.
This is an important fight, and we need your help. Please make a donation to CREW today to help us counter Trump’s election conspiracy theories →

John, with over 500 posts about election conspiracies, we’ve seen a lot of unhinged comments from Trump:
- He has spread a fringe theory alleging that a cellular network connecting election equipment nationwide was used to fraudulently flip votes.
- He cited a report that he shared six times, and deemed “fully verified,” that outlined an “avalanche of irregularities” in five swing states (the document’s author and origin are unnamed and much of its evidence disproven).
- He attacked mail-in voting in 87 different posts, accusing Democrats of “ballot harvesting” or “ballot stuffing” 18 times and calling on Republican governors to end mail-in voting.
And now, he’s already spreading misinformation about 2024.
Trump’s attacks on elections may seem like a chaotic grasping at straws, but it’s much more dangerous than that. It is an unmistakable effort to create uncertainty around our elections and the way they are run.
Trump’s frequent posting of election lies pose an ever-greater threat to our country. We need to set the record straight by sharing the facts that show the 2020 election was free and fair. We need to hold Trump accountable for his lies and his crimes. We need Congress to pass laws to prevent presidential abuses of power and to defend the right to vote as the cornerstone of our democracy.
These aren’t easy fights, but they are important. And that’s why CREW took them on.
We need to fight to defend our democracy from Donald Trump and his lies. For years Trump has made dangerous claims about the 2020 election, we have to be just as persistent about spreading the truth and holding him accountable.
CREW is hard at work to make sure we succeed in holding Trump accountable and defending democracy, and we need your help. Donate to support CREW’s work today →
