And... we have an important update! In partnership with funders, Accenture and Avanade, The Rise Challenge is one of the initiatives of the Entrepreneur Accelerator Initiative (previously known as 1 Million Entrepreneurs of Color). The Rise Challenge is an open call for solutions to address barriers confronting entrepreneurs of color and their businesses. The Rise Challenge includes $150,000 in awards to the top teams that provide the most creative solutions to the systemic conditions preventing these businesses from thriving. The submission deadline has passed, but there’s more to come! The final judging and awards ceremony will be held at the Prosperity Summit. 📣 Building High Impact Nonprofits of Color 📣Prosperity Now's Building High Impact Nonprofits of Color (BHINC) project provides training to Black and Brown-owned nonprofits. With six years of experience leading the Building High Impact Nonprofits of Color (BHINC) project in partnership with philanthropic funders, this initiative is leading a new cohort in the local communities of the DMV. To address systems-change work, Prosperity Now understands that many nonprofits of color need access to the resources and partnerships that will make them most effective in engaging the communities they serve. While Prosperity Now is not a funder, the intellectual thought partnership and technical assistance we provide, combined with financial investments, help local leaders maximize their resources by building their confidence and skills to carry out their visions on behalf of their communities. Communities of color need nonprofits of color with high impact asset-building services to address the national challenge of a broad and deep racial wealth divide. From Bars to Business: Overcoming Barriers to Entrepreneurship for Formerly Incarcerated PeopleAt Prosperity Now, we truly understand the importance of economic justice for all! For this reason, it is important to remember that every year, more than 600,000 people are released from prison and given a chance to build a new life. Discriminatory hiring practices and other barriers often present obstacles to securing stable employment. In fact, nearly 75% of formerly incarcerated people are still unemployed a year after their release. |
