I became a STOP THE BLEED® Instructor back in 2017. At that time, I had about 38 years as a Field EMT. It was a new program that sounded interesting to teach, so that is why I become a STB Instructor. Seven years later, we have trained over 1,000 people to be “Immediate Responders”. I even did a ZOOM class for a paramedic in Nicaragua, so she could become a STB Instructor in her country where I’d type of training is essential. I even shipped her a tourniquet, and wound packing prop and gauze, because she didn’t have access to those training materials in her country. Now she trains offers STOP THE BLEED® classes to other EMS responders in her country. The STB the class is my favorite class to teach, because in an hour and a half, I can train someone with no previous medical training to learn how to STOP THE BLEED®.

Training is at the heart of the STOP THE BLEED® campaign and STOP THE BLEED® Instructors are the ones that make the heart beat! The Instructor Spotlight shines a bright light on individuals engaging their communities about STOP THE BLEED®.

Connect with the Stop the Bleed Coalition

The Coalition is a community of individuals and organizations who are passionate about the STOP THE BLEED® campaign. The Coalition’s goal is to support the growth and impact of the campaign by providing access to information and services to the growing STOP THE BLEED® community as well as financial support to the STOP THE BLEED® Project.

STOP THE BLEED® is a national campaign to encourage bystanders to become trained, equipped, and empowered to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives. It is a public/private partnership led by the Department of Defense and many other stakeholders, including the Stop the Bleed Coalition.
