the TOP funders of fossil fuel exploration in the Amazon?^1

These financial institutions use our savings to pay for fossil fuel
exploration in the world’s largest tropical rainforest and make massive
profits — while wreaking havoc on wildlife, biodiversity, and communities.

And according to a new report by COICA and Stand.earth, Citibank, JPMorgan
Chase, and Bank of America are continuing to bankroll this destructive
drilling, despite claiming to fight biodiversity loss and exploitation of
Indigenous people. That’s blatant greenwashing, plain and simple.^2

That’s why this summer, as the Amazon faces a renewed push to expand
drilling^3, we’re taking action with climate activists and Indigenous
communities on the front lines of this fight to put pressure on these
banks.

The Amazon rainforest is one of the most biodiverse regions on the entire
planet, home to more species of plants and animals than anywhere else in
the world – and protecting it is a crucial part of our fight against the
climate crisis.^4

Yet, U.S. banks, who claim to be sustainable, are financing its
destruction and the continuous threats and retaliation faced by Indigenous
and traditional communities in the Amazon — for profit.

Instead of turning the Amazon into a carbon bomb, these banks should use
their resources to promote a just transition to renewable energy.
