John — 88 years ago tonight, President Franklin Roosevelt accepted the Democratic Party's nomination for president and here's what he said, "There is a mysterious cycle in human events. To some generations much is given. Of other generations much is expected. This generation of Americans has a rendezvous with destiny."

Our generation too has a rendezvous with destiny and the battle we are waging for democracy here in Arizona's First Congressional District will go a long way to shaping America's future. And there’s no debate about this: AZ-01 is the only congressional district in America that could end up deciding who controls the House, the Senate, and the White House.

Will you help us stay on track to win by pitching in any amount toward our FEC goal? It will take all of us coming together to make this happen. [[link removed]]

That evening in 1936, FDR made clear what he was fighting for. Though it was three years before the beginning of World War II, he said there were people around the world who had lost their democracy and freedoms and “only our success can stir their ancient hope.”

He said they needed to “know that here in America we are waging a great and successful war. It is not alone a war against want and destitution and economic demoralization. It is more than that; it is a war for the survival of democracy. We are fighting to save a great and precious form of government for ourselves and for the world.”

That is our fight today. To not only defend our democracy from the Donald Trumps and the David Schweikerts, but to show the world that American democracy works. Will you join the fight by donating to our campaign before our FEC deadline? [[link removed]]

We can show the world that when 80% of Americans want common sense gun laws or comprehensive immigration reform or tax fairness, the voice of the people and not special interests will rule the day.

That we live in our country where women have the freedom to get the help they need to become pregnant or not to become pregnant, that parents can check out the books of their choosing for their kids from the library, that we can marry those we love.

That the rule of law applies to all – no matter whether they are selling drugs on a street corner or crooked executives in a corner office or a former president in the Oval Office.

We need to show the world that America is a place where hard work and not just wealth is valued and rewarded.

We can win this race and make this future a reality, but we have zero margin for error. Can you pitch in any amount to help us reach our FEC goal so we have the resources needed to defeat David Schweikert? [[link removed]]

That's what our fight is for. I believe we will meet our rendezvous with destiny. But I need your help.

Yours in service,
Andrei
