Sparing Male Chicks

After several meetings with Mercy For Animals team members, U.S. egg producer Kipster announced plans to switch to in-ovo sexing. This technology enables producers to determine the sex of chicks before they hatch, ending the killing of male chicks. Kipster is the first egg company in the United States to adopt this practice. This will spare around 75,000 to 100,000 birds each year.

A Global Environmental Award Nomination

Transfarmation™ is one of seven finalists for a prestigious global environmental award, The Curt Bergfors Food Planet Prize. This nomination underscores the significant impact of our work to bring factory farming into conversations about the environment and climate change.

Our Influence on the Farm Bill

Two of our farmed animal priorities have been included in the Senate version of the Farm Bill, a massive piece of U.S. legislation that covers a wide range of agricultural and food programs. Our measures focus on transitioning factory farms to plant-based operations and mandating federal reporting on mass killing of animals at farms.

Our First Investigation in Chile

Our first investigation in Chile brought attention to the suffering of hens caged for egg production. Three of the country's largest media outlets covered the investigation. We are urging Chilean companies to spare hens extreme confinement by banning the use of cages in their egg supply chains.

Launching Operations in Malaysia

Mercy For Animals is thrilled to announce the opening of our Malaysian office, expanding our efforts to protect animals in Southeast Asia. With this new addition, we are now active in Brazil, Canada, India, Malaysia, Mexico, and the United States. We look forward to making a major impact in the region.
