Game and Parks approves a 2025 mountain lion season
Nebraska Game and Parks approved staff recommendations for a 2025 mountain lion hunting season at its June 21 meeting in Ogallala.
For the first time, a hunting season will take place in the Wildcat Hills. A Wildcat Hills Unit was created, joining the existing Pine Ridge Unit and Niobrara Unit as areas that allow mountain lion harvest.

Game and Parks temporarily closes areas affected by Missouri River flooding
Riverview Marina State Recreation Area and portions of Indian Cave State Park are closed immediately until further notice due to surging Missouri River water levels. These follow closures or partial closures at Pelican Point, Two Rivers and Louisville state recreation areas and Ponca State Park, where floodwaters have affected riverfront camping and amenities.
