It was simple, John – they didn't want me to win because I made it clear I wanted to be a voice for our community, not special interests.
And while our district quickly showed them the power of people-first campaigns, it didn't stop them, and hundreds of groups just like them, from continuing to invest in attacks on progressive voices like me across the country.
It's like deja vu — just like they poured money into my race 2 years ago, super PACs have poured millions into efforts to unseat multiple members of the Squad this month. In fact, AIPAC's $17+ million in spending to unseat Jamaal Bowman made his race the most expensive House primary in history.
Ultimately, it's up to us to send a message to these groups, loud and clear: our elections, and our elected officials, cannot be bought.
John, today, on the second anniversary of my first primary win, I want to emphasize that I've never accepted donations from corporate PACs. Since day one, my team and I have relied on grassroots donations from folks like you, and it's paid off.
In my reelection campaign, I want to continue to share my people-first mindset with folks in our district. But as we head into one of the slowest fundraising months of the year, we need your help to prepare. Will you support us with a donation toward the $7,033 we need to raise to meet our End of Quarter Fundraising Goal?
