Cultural Arts Commission's public art projects
Banner with kids artwork look up oswego may 2024
You may have already spotted colorful banners on light poles in downtown Oswego. The Village's Cultural Arts Commission (CAC) is celebrating the Look Up Oswego student art banners and functional public art bicycle racks tonight, June 27.
The Look Up Oswego banner project showcases 87 pieces of winning artwork from School District 308 students in grades 5, 8, and 12. The banners will remain on display until October.
The second downtown CAC project features six functional public art pieces designed to secure bicycles. The metal structures replicate native Illinois flowers in vibrant colors. The CAC's goal was to provide whimsical public art while serving residents who bicycle downtown to enjoy the Village's dining, shopping and services.
The public is invited to attend tonight's CAC presentation at 6 p.m. at the northeast corner of Main and Van Buren where the functional public art bicycle racks are located.
Next time you're downtown, take a stroll to view all of the Look Up Oswego banners and the functional public art bicycle racks.
