Hi John, I have incredible news to share. Yesterday, the Bay Area Housing Finance Authority (BAHFA) voted unanimously to approve sending the $20 billion 9-county Bay Area affordable housing bond measure to the November 2024 ballot! BAHFA commissioners listened to nearly two hours of testimony which was overwhelmingly supportive of the bond, including from NPH members, business leaders, labor groups, faith leaders, and many other attendees who named the critical role the measure could play in advancing an affordable Bay Area for all, as well as the economic, environmental, and racial justice impacts that housing brings to communities. |

✊ Our ED Weighs In! NPH Executive Director Amie Fishman noted at the hearing that “we have the opportunity to advance a real, long-term solution to building affordable housing and solving the foundational issue most impacting our neighbors and our region. We have tens of thousands of homes in the pipeline, waiting to be built. We need to scale up the public investment to be able to do just that and meet our communities’ needs.” 📊 The Tangible Impact of the Measure Yesterday's vote from BAHFA puts the power in voters’ hands this November. If passed, the measure will support the development and preservation of approximately 90,000 affordable homes throughout the Bay Area. In a recent poll conducted by FM3 Research, two-thirds of Bay Area voters agree there is a need for more resources to address housing affordability in the Bay Area. |
