American Muslims for Palestine (AMP) Responds to Chairman James Comer's Misinformation and Baseless Accusations

American Muslims for Palestine (AMP) is deeply disappointed by the recent letter from Congressman James Comer, Chairman of the Committee on Oversight and Accountability, which contains baseless accusations about AMP being the parent organization of or associated in any formal capacity with National Students for Justice in Palestine (National SJP) and seeks to malign our organization through misinformation.

Chairman Comer's letter continues to perpetuate false narratives and misconceptions about AMP's role and activities. It is essential to address and correct these inaccuracies:

1. No Organizational Relationship: AMP is an independent entity focused on advocating for Palestinian rights and promoting justice through peaceful and lawful means. We have no corporate or operational ties to National SJP, contrary to the implications in Chairman Comer's letter.

2. Commitment to Legal Compliance: AMP operates in strict accordance with all relevant U.S. laws, including those related to financial transparency and anti-terrorism. The insinuations that AMP is involved in any form of illegal activities or supports terrorist organizations are not only untrue but also defamatory.

3. Transparency and Cooperation: While AMP is committed to transparency and has always been willing to cooperate with legitimate inquiries, the requests made in Chairman Comer's letter overstep legal and ethical boundaries. Our counsel has already clarified that we do not possess the documents in question because they pertain to an entirely separate entity.

4. Misinformation and Malicious Intent: It is apparent that Chairman Comer's approach is driven by a malicious intent to spread misinformation and discredit our organization. This tactic of guilt by association undermines the integrity of congressional oversight and distracts from genuine efforts to address issues of national importance.

AMP will continue to stand firm in its mission to advocate for Palestinian human rights and justice. We call on Chairman Comer and the Committee on Oversight and Accountability to cease their baseless attacks, focus on constructive and truthful discourse, and do the work that Americans expect from it.

We remain dedicated to our cause and to upholding the values of truth, justice, and equality for all.
