BREAKING: The U.S. Supreme Court today refused to confirm whether people who need stabilizing abortions are entitled to the same emergency care as all other patients. While the decision revived protections for pregnant people in Idaho—for now—the Court effectively punted the issue.
It is clearer than ever that allowing courts and politicians to decide whether we can access essential reproductive health care is untenable.
Even with some protections still in place, hospitals in states with abortion bans and restrictions are afraid to provide emergency abortions due to the risk of severe criminal penalties under their states' vague and confusing laws.
Will you contact your representatives RIGHT NOW and ask them to support federal protection for abortion?
Since Roe v. Wade was overturned in 2022, half of U.S. states have severely restricted or completely banned abortion—bans that have caused fear, confusion, and harm to our communities. Anti-abortion extremists continue to attack all our reproductive freedoms, including access to medication abortion, IVF, contraception, and even our right to receive life-saving emergency health care while pregnant.
Federal legislation is the solution to the current abortion access nightmare in the United States, and we need you to take action now.
Together with our partners, the Center is doing everything we can to keep abortion available and accessible to all who need it. Our coalition is fighting for desperately needed federal legislation, and we can't get there without you. Please, take action right now and tell your representatives to support a federal right to abortion.
You are instrumental in our success. Thank you in advance for your commitment and advocacy.
In solidarity,
Center for Reproductive Rights
