Information Session: Foundation on Artificial Intelligence and Disability

Artificial Intelligence (AI) can increase accessibility, but without appropriate efforts, it can also create barriers for people with disabilities. To address equity and accessibility, the Access Board was tasked with several actions in President Biden's Executive Order on AI. The Board signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in May of 2024, with the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) and the Center for Democracy & Technology (CDT) to ensure that the disability community is engaged and supported through education and resources related to AI. A key element of the MOU is launching an informative and collaborative AI series that will include information sessions, public hearings, and sharing best practices.

The Developing Artificial Intelligence (AI) Equity, Access & Inclusion for All Series will kick off with the hosting of an information session on July 9, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Attendees can join over Zoom, or watch the livestream of the session on the Access Board?s YouTube Channel. This session will provide foundational information on Artificial Intelligence, the Executive Order requirements, and the risks and benefits of AI for people with disabilities.
