Friend,

Every day, we see horrific images from Gaza of severely malnourished children with distended bellies and emaciated, stick-like limbs. As children starve and are crushed under rubble, Israel continues to keep border crossings closed and blocks humanitarian aid shipments.

Make no mistake: Using starvation as a weapon of war is a violation of the Genocide Convention, and supplying weapons to a nation blocking life-saving aid goes against U.S. law.

And yet, instead of demanding that Israel stop the bombing and allow humanitarian aid into Gaza, U.S. lawmakers have invited Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to address Congress, where he will undoubtedly receive endless standing ovations.

And while the corporate media largely continues to downplay or entirely ignore grotesque war crimes, Common Dreams has been among the few U.S.-based news outlets covering this war without shading the facts or discounting the lives of innocent people.

Your donations are what make this vital independent journalism possible — but with just a few days left in our Mid-Year Campaign, we’re still far short of reaching our must-hit goal.

If you value Common Dreams’ hard-hitting reporting, please make a donation to help support Common Dreams and keep independent journalism alive and strong.

With solidarity and gratitude,
