Dear John,
We'll get through this together. You are hearing that statement everywhere these days, because while it may be simple, it is absolutely true.
At Family Research Council we have been praying daily for you and your family. But in order to best serve and represent you, we wanted to hear directly from you. So, we invited many of our FRC friends to fill out our Faith in The Middle of Crisis survey... and we have been blown away by the response. Thank you!
Here are just some of the highlights of what thousands of you shared with us.
- Over 20 percent of FRC's friends know someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 (the disease caused by this novel coronavirus). Will you join us in praying for those who are fighting this terrible disease and for their loved ones?
- Over 64 percent have unfortunately had their or their family member's job affected. Be assured that we are also praying for those of you in these difficult situations, trusting that the Lord will provide for you in new ways.
Even in the midst of this crisis, as followers of Jesus we understand that it's in dark times like these when the light of Christ can shine the brightest. For example:
- Over 29 percent of you reported finding more opportunities to share the gospel with loved ones during this time.
- Meanwhile, as FRC has been spotlighting since this situation began, churches have found creative ways to serve their communities through online Sunday services (33 percent) or Bible studies (19 percent), mobilizing prayer (14 percent), delivering food or supplies for people who are at risk (13 percent), promoting resources for parents (11 percent), or providing financial assistance (10 percent). There were even 37 respondents who stated that their churches setup mobile coronavirus testing sites.
- Over 56 percent of you responded that you are spending more time in prayer, and nearly 40 percent are taking time to dive into the Bible or other devotional materials.
Now is the perfect time to join the FRC family in reading through the Bible with our free Stand on the Word with FRC two-year Bible reading plan. And don't forget our guide on How to Pray During the Coronavirus Crisis that we continue to update as the situation develops.
- Another resource that many of your fellow FRC partners (43 percent) reported that they find helpful during this time is our daily Washington Update email. Many of you already receive this, but if you don't or you have friends who you think would benefit from this biblically-based insider perspective on the news, visit frc.org/connect to sign up today.
- While the vast majority of respondents (over 96 percent) say they supported President Trump's handling of the coronavirus situation, arguably the most important response to the survey was that over 99 percent of FRC's partners committed to pray for the president and our elected leaders.
While these are difficult days for our nation and our families, these results and the thousands of testimonies many of you shared gives us renewed strength and hope.
Please continue to join us in praying (as 1 Timothy 2:1-4 instructs) for President Trump, Vice President Pence, and our governmental leaders as they navigate these uncharted waters. Please also pray for us at FRC as we remain hard at work on your behalf.
Thank you for partnering with us as we boldly stand in faith during this crisis to encourage believers, equip the church, educate elected officials, and elevate the issues of faith, family, freedom.
Together, we can be the salt and light Christ talked about in Matthew 5:13-16 that our nation so desperately needs.
Blessings,
Scott Hurley Vice President for Development
