Dear John,

The media is not on our side. They want to see us fail in our attempts to pursue an accurate and transparent process. They are calling us “election deniers” just because we are working to ensure a result that truly reflects the intent of the legitimate voters in this election. But everyone should want voters to have the utmost confidence in the integrity of our local, state and national elections.

The post-election canvassing process is complete, and the State Board of Elections will be meeting on July 2 to certify the election. Once the certification process is complete, our legal team will pursue a recount. In Virginia, the law permits a recount when the race is within a 1% margin, but if the margin is greater than 0.5%, the candidate requesting the recount must cover the cost. Because the margin in our race is 0.6%, we are responsible for paying the cost of the recount.

This is why I need your help.

I want to be sure your vote, and every legal vote, is counted fairly and accurately with the greatest amount of transparency. A recount will review all the canvass work to be sure a machine tape wasn’t missed, that all legal protocols were followed, and that all the “undervotes” not originally counted are finally counted. With an election this close, we owe it to everyone invested in this race to do everything we can to verify the results.

Will you consider helping to fund this very important recount effort? Please consider a donation of $25, $50 or even $100.

We also have a small amount of primary debt. If you’d like to give to our debt retirement fund, please donate here.

We expect that by July 12, our petition for a recount will be heard by the local Chief Judge. We will keep you informed about any developments that may occur before that time.

For God and Country,

Bob

P.S. If you have donated to me previously, you can donate again. Max contributions of up to $3,300 are permitted for the recount fund. If you were a max donor in the primary cycle, this means you may contribute again!
