In a world more interlinked than ever before, the future at stake is the one we share. It is no longer just about who will rise and who will fall. We will all rise or fall together. Our best hope is to pull together and work through common problems, across countries and issues and generations.
The Summit of the Future in September is a crucial opportunity to forge a new global consensus on what our future should look like and take concrete steps to respond to emerging challenges and opportunities. This will be achieved through an action-oriented outcome document called the Pact for the Future. The Pact is currently being negotiated and will be endorsed by member states at the the Summit in September. See the first revision of the Pact for the Future, which has been recently presented to member states.
It is clear that the world needs a more coherent and effective international architecture – before current crises deepen and it is too late for the SDGs.
Civil society plays a critical role to deliver on the SDGs and leave no one behind. That’s why the UN SDG Action Campaign facilitates and supports the engagement of civil society, youth, indigenous people and other key stakeholders in dialogues and decision-making processes in the lead up to the Summit of the Future, featuring our latest updates in this newsletter.
