Hi John,
We know that drivers do the hard work for Uber, putting in the miles and getting passengers where they need to go. Yet Uber treats drivers like they’re disposable—ignoring safety concerns, keeping wages low, and deactivating accounts with little to no explanation. That’s why drivers are coming together across the country to launch Activate Respect, a new campaign to end unfair deactivations and win new rules on the road. Yesterday, drivers in San Jose, Denver, and Chicago took action together and called for transparency, fairness, and an equitable appeals process. Check out these photos! 👇 |
In Chicago, drivers gathered at O’Hare International Airport where they spoke with other drivers and passengers about deactivations and the importance of passing Chicago’s Rideshare Living Wage and Safety Ordinance. |
In Denver, drivers united at Denver International Airport where they engaged other drivers about recent legislative victories that enhance deactivation protections and a new city ordinance aimed at increasing driver pay. |
In San Jose, drivers rallied with elected leaders and community allies at Uber’s Greenlight Hub, where they shared stories about being deactivated and the devastating impact it has on their livelihoods and lives.
Together with the Activate Respect campaign (Gig Workers Rising, Chicago Gig Alliance, Colorado Independent Drivers United, Action Center on Race and the Economy, and the national team here at PowerSwitch), drivers are uniting around a shared set of demands that will not only end unfair deactivations, but serve as an important step in holding Uber accountable to drivers, passengers, and our communities.
