Friend,

The people who make Common Dreams possible are people who make the world a better place. They help remind us why we do this work. What follows are the words of donors over just the last few days, and there’s nothing we can say other than that we are humbled.

“Common Dreams,” said one, “is a rare jewel somehow managing to survive in a world that does not want us to be informed.”

“I donate monthly and want to be able to do so,” said another. “Long live Common Dreams!”
This one made us smile: “I have found my peeps. Thank you!”

Numerous donors said, “I wish it were more!” Of those, many made clear that times are tough. “It isn’t possible now, but I will when I can.” “I am a senior on a fixed income, and as a result, I cannot support you year-round.” “I’m broke now more than ever, but I’m sending you what I can.”

These messages of generosity reach deep into our hearts. What makes this reader-funded model beautiful is that we know every person’s circumstance is different. As in life, we do what we can for that which we value. We ask nothing more of you, dear readers, and have such endless gratitude for every single one of our cherished supporters.

“Your work, and your steadfastness in it,” said a donor, “will lead those of us who will hang in there with you to creating a better, safer world.” We hope so. “Thanks for all you do!” said someone else. No, we’d like to respond, thank you.

And then there was the check that came in the mail today for $27 exactly. “Dear Common Dreams,” said a note tucked inside: “Thanks for your hard work and great writing.” It was signed “Angry Granny” and the memo line on the check was also filled out: “For justice.”

So these are our sponsors. Not Big Oil. Not Big Pharma. Not Big Ag. Not the weapons makers or the for-profit insurance companies. These are our peeps and we feel blessed to do this work in their name.

If you’re a reader but not a donor, please consider becoming one today. You’ll be in very good company. The very best people we know support Common Dreams. We’d be honored to have you too. ([link removed])
