Virginia could lose reproductive freedom in November
Friend —
Two years ago this week, right-wing justices on the U.S. Supreme Court made a deadly life-changing judgment.
In what will go down in history as one of the worst Supreme Court decisions ever made, these justices blatantly allowed extremist politics to influence their ruling to overturn Roe v. Wade.
That decision continues to reverberate nationwide.
States controlled by right-wing governors and state legislatures are moving quickly to choke off access to abortion for millions of women. Harsh penalties for women seeking an abortion and health providers counseling them have been imposed.
Virginia is not immune to this vicious assault on reproductive freedom from right-wing extremists, team.
Governor Youngkin, trying to shore up his credentials with Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans, recently vetoed a bill protecting access to birth control across the Commonwealth.
And while Virginia remains the only state in the Southeast with open access to abortion, Youngkin, his allies in the state legislature, and their accomplices in Congress are going all out to shut that access down.
Team, we can’t kid ourselves. If we can’t re-elect Democrats up and down the ballot in November and stop MAGA in its tracks, everything is at risk. Everything.
We’re working day and night to expand grassroots support for Democrats statewide in November, friend. We’re not taking anything or anyone for granted. Two years ago, we saw the ruthlessness with which a political court moved to strip away a woman’s right to an abortion.
