John, let’s start with what matters most: Thank you.
Thank you for making this campaign possible, for pushing us further than anyone expected us to go, for believing that our rights, our families, our jobs, and our futures are worth fighting for.
We didn’t win at the ballot box last night, but we never lost hope, either, and there’s victory in that. It matters to me to celebrate that.
There’s something else we still haven’t lost, though, and that’s the chance for our Democratic nominee to flip NY-22 blue and keep Brandon Williams FAR away from Congress.
The truth is, Central New Yorkers know that time is up for people like Brandon Williams and Donald Trump, who only know how to serve themselves and their cronies. Central New Yorkers know that real leadership is rooted in service – to our nation and to our neighbors. They know that only when more people in the halls of Congress understand real service will we truly succeed.
But this primary election was also held the day after the anniversary of the Dobbs decision that overturned Roe v. Wade. So let’s be brutally honest: At a time when reproductive and abortion rights are on the line, we need more than just any Democrat to represent us. We need someone who will show up every day, ask the tough questions, and fight like hell to make a better life for all our families.
I hope that John Mannion will be that kind of leader, and I congratulate him on his victory.
So while I really wanted to win this one, the fight doesn’t end here. We still have a lot of work ahead of us, and it depends on each of us as much today as it did yesterday. I expect to see you out there, fighting the good fight, serving your community, and pushing for progress. I know I’ll be there.
Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart.
Onward,
Sarah
