For most of us, we know where we’ll be tonight. We’ll be on our couch, watching our shows, doing our chores, swiping on our apps, or yapping up a storm with our friends and loved ones. With a bone-deep certainty, we know where we’ll be. Home. As young people with wealth, housing is often guaranteed. Even if those four walls grew taller as our class ascended, the yellow house became white, or the space grew or shrunk as we transitioned into different phases of our lives, most of us never worried they would disappear altogether. Home was and is a constant, almost instinctual sense of security.
Housing justice means ensuring everyone has the same bone-deep sense of safety and security. To ensure we can have a world where home is for everyone, we set ambitious Organizing Drive goals of raising $750k for our annual budget and bringing in 50 new members. As the drive comes to a close, we have a lot to celebrate because we have raised $740.8k towards our goal. This was only possible because we, young people with wealth, collectively threw down and put time, energy, and money into fortifying our resources, growing our membership, and skilling up to boldly organize for a world where everyone is safely and affordably housed.
But our work isn’t over yet. To win big on housing, we need a lot more people and power. We have currently brought in 27/50 new members. So, for our BIG Housing Campaign Launch on Thursday, June 27, 7 PM ET (the last event of the drive), can you think of 3 people you can bring? Who do you know who needs Resource Generation (even if they don’t know it yet)? Who do you know who can help create a world where home is for everyone? Need sample language to get the ball rolling? Check out our toolkit here.
We still have a ways to go before we hit our 10% overall giving goal for our campaign partner—so far RG has committed $222k to Center For Popular Democracy, that is just a start! Sign the redistribution pledge and tell us how much you’re moving to CPD! We are so proud of our membership for throwing down hard for RG's first housing campaign Organizing Drive! Our collective basebuilding and resource mobilizing have prepared us to launch a powerful housing campaign across the country. See you at the Housing Campaign Launch this Thursday!! |

RG Vermont has surpassed our goal of $250,000 in the campaign to support Cooperation Vermont/People’s Network for Land and Liberation with the purchase of Goddard College — with $304,000 currently pledged! We are moved by the support of RG's national community in our pursuit of community-owned real estate and establishment of a just transition campus here in the northeast.
With this commitment, alongside $1.1 million in additional raised capital and a $2 million loan, Cooperation Vermont is close to the $3.4 million total property value. They are currently in negotiations with involved parties, including other competitive buyers, and RG’s donations will be crucial in substantiating this bid.
However, the deal is not done. Reach out to Izzy ([email protected]) or Susanna ([email protected]) if you're interested in getting involved or learning more. |

RG's July Member Leader Lab: Team Soundness |
July 29th, 7-8:30pm ET/4-5:30pm PT Through RG's Member Leader Labs, we'll explore how to build a strong, multi-racial movement of young people with wealth & class privilege committed to ending wealth hoarding. We will seek to clarify the purpose of our invitation, the strategy of our outreach, and the soundness of our teams.
The second lab of 2024, on July 29th, will focus on team soundness -- we will hear from several chapters about how their chapter functions, how that's transparent to new members, and what clear & compelling roles folks are being invited into. We will spend time in discussion, and then move into small breakouts to think about how these learnings apply to your local context. RSVP here!

Young People Vs. the War Economy |
Dissenters and the visionary new youth movement that’s changing what’s possible. Join Us! When: Thursday June 27 at 12 PM ET
Where: Virtual, RSVP for zoom link
Authoritarianism is on the rise, climate change is accelerating, social services are under attack, and wars abroad are escalating –– all made possible by the U.S. war economy. We have the highest military budget in human history, and police departments, bloated with surplus military equipment are brutally repressing dissent. In every scenario where Black, Indigenous, brown and working class communities are facing militarized violence, political leaders are sending blank checks to weapons corporations, which are in turn raking in record profits. Our movements for racial and economic justice are finally contending with the modern reach of the war industry, and joining forces to take it on together.
