John, it’s Black Maternal Health Week! This week, we are focusing our attention on the Maternal Health Crisis that has long affected mothers, especially Black mothers, in our communities.

In 2019, statistics showed that Black mothers are over 3x more likely to die due to pregnancy-related complications than their white counterparts. It’s unacceptable that maternal mortality rates continue to rise and Black mothers continue to lose their lives.

That’s why Lauren co-founded the Black Maternal Health Caucus and introduced the MOMnibus, a historic package of legislation. The Black Maternal Health Caucus aims to address the maternal mortality crisis and the racial disparities that come with it.

The MOMnibus is a series of bills that would help ensure all women have the resources and support to have successful pregnancies, births, and postpartum experiences. Investing in maternal health for every mother is an important investment to make.

We’re asking you to stand with Lauren tonight, John, and sign on to become a grassroots co-sponsor of the MOMnibus.

The MOMnibus helps expecting mothers by:

- Investing in the mental health of mothers before and after birth
- Improving health care and support for expecting incarcerated women
- Investing in telehealth tools to improve maternal health outcomes in deprived areas
- And growing and diversifying the healthcare workforce to ensure that every mother in America is receiving care from someone she can trust

The MOMnibus will save lives and improve pregnancy outcomes for mothers across the country.
