Team,
Nine years ago today, marriage equality became law in the landmark Supreme Court case Obergefell v. Hodges.
Do you remember where you were when you heard the news? Couples who had been denied equal rights got married that same day. Americans of all backgrounds celebrated the fruits of decades of tireless activism for LGBTQ+ equality. Our country took a momentous step forward.
Thanks to hard-working Democrats, we built on that ruling by codifying marriage equality into federal law through the passage of the Respect for Marriage Act in 2022.
We’ve made incredible progress in securing LGBTQ+ justice — but there is still work to be done to achieve true, lasting equality.
Banning curriculum on LGBTQ history. Calling for the end of marriage equality. Attacking trans youth who want to play sports, receive gender-affirming care, or simply use the bathroom. Nothing is off the table when it comes to MAGA Republicans and their extreme agenda.
Anti-LGBTQ legislation is on the rise, and in this critical election year, we have the power to kick anti-progress Republicans out of office. Help us reelect hard-working LGBTQ leaders and allies by chipping into our Battleground Election Fund this anniversary >>
