John,
The online sexual exploitation of children is a horrific form of child trafficking in which girls and boys are sexually abused in front of a webcam — with their suffering streamed online for paying offenders. But you can help send rescue and bring hope!
It’s a nightmare crime that became a stark reality for Malone*.
Malone’s mother had been working abroad since he was in kindergarten and his father struggled with addiction. In fear of their safety, Malone and his four siblings were placed under their grandmother's care so he could continue his studies. He was determined to one day be able to provide safety and security to those he loved.
Malone’s mother sent money back to care for the children, but Malone’s grandmother misused the funds. Living with little means, Malone and his siblings struggled to scrape by — a situation soon noticed by a relative who decided to exploit Malone’s trouble.
One day, lured by the promise of gifts and food, Malone entered the relative’s home and agreed to help with chores. Instead of working for a meal, Malone was locked in a room with other children and forced to perform sexual acts online, directed by predators from afar.
John, Malone’s story is horrific and all too common in the Philippines and around the world. Children are being exploited and abused for profit — but together we can stop it. |

With your support today, IJM can continue fighting online sexual exploitation and all forms of human trafficking. After two years of Malone’s suffering, IJM learned of his entrapment and helped provide logistical and legal support to partners in the Philippines. Together, we enabled an investigation and a bold rescue operation that finally freed Malone and other victims from the home.
After his rescue, the trauma from the abuse caused Malone to lose interest in his studies. But, with the help of IJM case workers, he regained his desire to learn and resumed his education. Now as an adult, Malone fully supports himself and is fulfilling his wish to give his siblings stability. “My dream is for my family to be happy,” he says. “For all of us to be okay.” |

John, your support today helps rescues like Malone’s continue to happen. To date, IJM has supported Philippine authorities in bringing more than 1,200 victims and children-at-risk to safety and in apprehending 386 suspected perpetrators, at least 223 of whom have been convicted.
You can help IJM continue to make an impact. For children like Malone, your support today is vital to furthering more investigations and rescues. | |
