I’m feeling joy and gratitude today.

John, I’m feeling joy and gratitude today.

Joy for the nine-year anniversary of the Supreme Court’s landmark 2015 decision in Obergefell v. Hodges that paved the way for marriage equality nationwide.

Gratitude for the time, talent, and treasure that millions of Americans like you poured into building the Democratic majorities in the House and Senate that sent the 2022 Respect for Marriage Act to President Biden’s desk, which he promptly signed into law.

If we are going to defend our progress from a Supreme Court that has lurched much further to the right since 2015, then we must defend our Democratic Senate majority and the White House — it’s that simple. If you are able, please pitch in $5 ahead of my critical June 30 FEC deadline.

Our legislation protects the rights of all Americans, regardless of who they choose to marry.

The vast majority of Americans support same-sex and interracial marriage — but following the Dobbs decision in 2022, some justices signaled an openness to reconsidering cases regarding marriage equality like Obergefell and even Loving v. Virginia, which legalized interracial marriage nationwide.

I will never simply stand by and watch Americans be stripped of their fundamental rights, and I know you won’t either.

The best way of defending our progress on marriage equality and fighting to restore the freedoms and liberties this far-right Supreme Court has taken away is by defending the Senate and White House so that we can continue confirming federal judges who will protect our rights — including Supreme Court justices. Pitch in $5 before my FEC deadline this Sunday.

Many of the Court’s most recent decisions have been extremely dispiriting, from their decision overturning Roe to rolling back gun safety protections, environmental protections, and more.

It may seem a long way off to restoring fairness and balance to the federal judiciary, but I promise you that it is possible. It starts this November.

Thanks for doing what you can to support this movement to create a more just, loving nation.

With love and gratitude,

Cory
