Dear John,

Earlier today, I wrote to you to share some key information about the dispersal of direct payments that were included in Congress’ Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. I’m sending a quick follow up note to let you know that the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has just released some good news: Recipients of benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs will now automatically receive payments.

That means if you have not filed taxes recently, but you do receive VA benefits, you will receive your payment in the same form as your benefits (check or direct deposit), with no further action needed on your part. I’m pleased that the IRS has taken this step to make it easier for our veterans to receive their payments, and will keep fighting to help make it as easy as possible for you and your neighbors to access relief during this challenging time.

All my best,
Jeff
