| Outstanding Pro Bono Attorney of the Year, Karina Estrada
Karina Estrada graduated from the University of California at Santa Cruz with a B.A. in Intensive Psychology and received a J.D. in Law from the University of Minnesota in 2021. Since pursuing law, she has worked in civil rights, juvenile justice, immigration and has loved volunteering her time to ILCM for the past five years. When she is not volunteering or working, Karina loves to spend time with her two sons, travel, tend to her colorful garden, make ceramics, and play with her foster kittens. In the future, she intends to continue to use her legal knowledge to empower the Latinx and immigrant communities. Karina prides herself in representing her clients with passion and empathy while taking a personalized approach to working with different populations through what can be an overwhelming experience.
Karina's commitment to clients is clear. On April 1, 2024, DACA filing fees were increasing. Karina reached out right away to find out how she could help get more client cases filed before that deadline. She shows her dedication not just from this example, but in every case that she takes and shows her compassion in the work and towards our clients’ each individual situation.

| Outstanding Pro Bono Champions of the Year, Stinson LLP U Visa Team
The U Visa project spearheaded by the team at Stinson LLP is one of the first in the country to take on limited representation and engage individuals across state lines. We recognize this project was a large undertaking and have been overjoyed by its overall impact on our ability to serve the immigrant and refugee community.
Crime survivor cases are some of the most rewarding and challenging cases to work on. These folks are coming from vulnerable situations and deserve to get help quickly so that they can find stability in their work and housing. The Stinson team stepped up to work with us on the Limited Representation U Visa project to help folks get their cases filed and get those work cards to bring them one step closer to that stability. This is an innovative project working to help as many clients as possible as the backlog in immigration continues to grow and folks struggle to find attorneys to take their case. Without the Stinson team’s willingness to leap into and craft a new project with ILCM, these clients’ filings could have been delayed months which would have huge impacts on their ability to work and live safely in the United States.
