John: The date is June 26, 2015. The time is just after 10am ET. The United States Supreme Court releases its decision on Obergefell v. Hodges — and the right to same-sex marriage is constitutionally guaranteed from sea to shining sea. That joy we felt that morning was incredible. The vast majority of Americans still support everyone’s right to marry the person they love. But as we celebrate 9 years of marriage equality in the United States, we know that dangerous forces are trying to unravel our democracy, in part so they can enact their out-of-touch, unpopular anti-LGBTQ+ agenda. The fight for our freedoms has never been more important. That’s why we’re asking you to be one of the 9 donations we need from your community to celebrate 9 years of marriage of equality and commit to the work ahead.
The mounting attacks on the LGBTQ+ community in recent years — especially on the trans community — are just more attempts from extremists to scare and divide voters so they can keep their power. We refuse to buy into their fear mongering — we remain focused on protecting our democracy. And we’re fighting for fair maps so voters have a fair chance to hold anti-LGBTQ+ ideologues accountable at the ballot box. Thank you, NDR PAC HQ
